The Geography Club

The UConn Geography club is an organization open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are geography majors or interested in geography. The club serves as a forum to those passionate about all disciplines of geography. In addition, the club promotes networking and community service based opportunities including internships and mapping projects.

Gamma Theta Upsilon [GTU]

Gamma Theta Upsilon was founded at Illinois State University in 1928. It is an international honor society for geography students. The Zeta Kappa Chapter of GTU was organized at the University of Connecticut in 1980 and has initiated more than 100 members since then. Membership in GTU is earned by superior scholarship in geography based on grade average in a minimum of 3 geography courses. At Connecticut, GTU sponsors the Department's annual Career Night for geography majors and a spring dinner for the initiation of new members.

 

Friends of Geography [FOG]

Friends of Geography, established in the spring of 2005, is a recognized and active student group at the University of Connecticut . Funded through the Graduate Student Senate, the group sponsors speakers, monthly lunches, social nights as well as many other events for all students interested in geography. Currently the club has over 30 members ranging from graduate to undergraduate students from a variety of majors.
